Why We Don’t Go Easy on Abuse

by AppraiserAmanda

The Give List works because people trust the neighborhood they’re stepping into. That means we protect it. Scams, harassment, fake listings, repeated no-shows, exploiting generosity, reselling schemes, or using the community in ways it wasn’t intended aren’t harmless—they make good neighbors stop participating. We’d rather lose one person abusing the system than lose twenty people who came here in good faith. Mistakes happen, and we’ll treat honest mistakes like mistakes. Abuse is different. We don’t need endless warnings, complicated strikes, or courtroom drama. If someone deliberately makes this place worse for everyone else, we’re comfortable showing them the door.

The Give List

A quiet club of neighbors. One person gives, one person wishes, and something useful finds its way home.

The map

How it works

  1. 1. Post a give, a wish, or wander the feed.
  2. 2. A neighbor sends a short note.
  3. 3. You pick. Pickup happens. Done.

The code

  • Everything free, always.
  • Neighbor to neighbor.
  • Less waste. More reuse.
  • No ratings, no chat, no drama.
